A new on-site inspection programme to tackle the risk of back and joint issues among workers in the haulage and logistics industry is being launched by the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI).
Falls from height remain one of the leading causes of death and serious injury in construction and agriculture. To tackle this, the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) and the Health and Safety Authority (HSA) have today launched a month-long, all-island inspection campaign.
According to the Met Office, a yellow weather warning for wind has been issued for Northern Ireland from 2.00pm Friday 3 October until 12.00pm Saturday 4 October. Employers should assess their work activities and take appropriate precautions.
As Mesothelioma Awareness Day is marked today (Friday 26 September) the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) is urging employers not to become complacent when it comes to the risk of asbestos-related disease in the workplace. Mesothelioma is a type of cancer usually linked to asbestos exposure.
Farmers are being urged to make their safety a priority when mixing slurry ahead of the closed spreading period.
